The 23rd Psalm
by Randy Thompson
"The Lord is My Shepherd" by Keith Green used by permission

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul
And leads my path in righteousness for His name sake
Surely goodness and lovingkindness
Will follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever and ever and ever

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
These words of truth become more precious to me
As I am constantly aware of what I haven't got.
How long before You will come and set this longing captive free

You alone can make me just lie down
In the cool of this deep green pature
Safe from dangers that are all around
And from the quiet, still cool waters I drink deep drink deep drink deep
drink deep drink deep drink deep

And You alone can restore my soul
You fill the longing empty places
You alone Lord can make me whole
And set my feet on the road of righteousness that leads me straight to You
Leads me straight to You

And when I find myself in the deepest valley
With deaths cold shadow hanging over me
When I can't see to find my own way out
Lord I will not fear I know You are here You comfort me You comfort me

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
He makes me to lie down in cool green pastures
Safe from dangers that are all around
And from the quiet, still cool waters I drink deep drink deep drink deep
drink deep drink deep drink deep

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
The Lord of heaven is my shepherd and I am His sheep
And I am His sheep
And I am His sheep

THE ANGELS SING
by Randy Thompson

Once long ago Earth and Heaven
Met in a stable where Jesus was born
Such a lowly place
To display His matchless grace
For all the world to see

Here the Son of God lay in a manger
Here the hope of man lay so helpless and so pure
As the angels sing
Praises to His name singing

Chorus
Glory to God in the highest
Peace on Earth among men
With whom he is pleased

Shepherds came to find this tiny savior
The one who'd come to find us
When we were gone astray
Such an awesome plan
God become a man

Chorus

I can't begin to comprehend
The love that sent this precious gift
To men who could not even find them room
That God would choose this time and place
To step into the human race
A helpless baby from a virgins womb
To think of the love
That would move the God of heaven
To bestow such a gift
To a world that would deny Him
Take on flesh and blood
And suffer that which only God can fully know

The star in the darkness led the wise men
To the place where Jesus lay
The Light of the World
Whom the Angels praised
With their voices raised singing

Glory to God in the highest
Peace on Earth among men
With whom he is pleased
Glory to God in the highest
Peace on Earth among men
With whom he is pleased
Glory to God in the highest
Glory to God in the highest
Glory to God in the highest

The Denial
by Randy Thompson

The darkness fell
The silence I know so well
Once again I find myself alone
I believed in You
At least I wanted to
Where do I go from here
Knowing it's over now
I'm so alone

I gave my heart to You
Now it's torn in two
All the promises you made and I believed
I trusted You
At least I wanted to
Where do I go from here
Knowing it's over now
I'm so afraid

CHORUS
My mind is haunted now by scenes I can't forget
The sound of my voice crying 'I never knew You'
The emptiness and agony I'm feeling yet
That pierced my soul when You looked into my eyes

I felt the shame
Knowing I'm to blame
I can't understand where it all went wrong
I thought You were the one
Oh, Lord what have I done
I don't know what to believe
Could I have been deceived
I'm so confused

CHORUS

The Gift of God
music by Gordan Barr & Randy Thompson
Lyrics by Randy Thompson

All creation yearns for this
In silence it lay waiting
Now the unbelievable is coming true
Before our eyes

The Universe awaits
With silent expectation
Joining in a mother's pain as on this night
A baby child is born

Chorus
The time is now at hand
God will speak to man
In a way that cannot be mistaken
Jesus Christ is born
As heaven holds it's breath
Here amidst the thorns
A rose has bloomed

Hope has come anew
In a light to pierce the darkness
The chains of death that bind us have been broken
And we're truly free

Chorus

Come this Holy night
Let us bow before our maker
Rejoice in this, the Gift of God
Worship Him Jesus Christ our Lord

The Mother of The One
by Randy Thompson

Mary lay all alone in the night
The dreams of a young girl dancing around her
So aware of what awaits her now
She is soon to be married

All alone with her hopes and her fears
Questions surround the future
Suddenly an angel appears
And stands before her

"Fear not", the angel said,
"For the Lord is with you.
His favor you have found.
You have been chosen
To be the mother of His Son,
To be the mother of the one
The world has awaited."

"How can this be?" she cried.
"I am still a virgin."
"The Holy Spirit," the angel replied
"Will be the father of this child."

And you shall bear a son
And call Him Jesus
And He will be the one
To save His people from their sin

So come Emmanuel
Come be God with us
And here among us dwell
For all the world to see
That Jesus you're the one
Jesus is the Son of God.

The Promise
by Randy Thompson

I believe there's a place far beyond my vision
It's a placeI long to be
So I wait for the voice that I know will call me
To keep the promise He gave to me

In a world where every day it becomes even clearer
That I just don't belong
And the only thing that I am holding ever dearer
Is the knowledge that I'm one day going home

At times I wonder if I'll ever really get there
At times it seems so far away
But no matter what I feel it still remains the reason
I get up when I fall and I dare to give it all
"Cause I still believe The Promise

The more I keep my eyes fixed upon the prize
Of the treasure I have found in Jesus
The more I long for Him to take me home
The less a hold this world has on me

So even though it may seem so very distant
I believe it's just a short time now
So I'll take my stand with the ones who've gone before me
Who never having seen still gave up everything
Because they believed The Promise

I believe there's a place far beyond my vision
It's a place that I long to be
So I wait for the voice that I know will call me
To keep the promise He gave to me

The Star
by Randy Thompson

Was there ever before
Will there ever again
Be another journey like the one on which the Wise men
Persued
What they'd seen from afar
They chose to follow the star

For the sake of a dream that captured their souls
They set out knowing nothing more than a few lines from a story
That was told
So many years before
They chose to follow the star

They choose to risk it all and lay it on the line
To be some of the few that choose to swim against the tide
To be the ones to follow a star that so few people ever seem to see
And turn a deaf ear to the world that's telling them what fools they'd be
To take the narrow road
The winding path less worn
To risk their lives and all they have
And give it all for the promise of an unseen treasure

This desperate world
Will never make sense
So long as we hold on to only what we see
With eyes of flesh
And refuse
To see what's beyond
And choose to follow the star

And choose to risk it all and lay it on the line
To be one of the few that choose to swim against the tide
To be the ones to follow a star that so few people ever seem to see
And turn a deaf ear to the world that tells me what a fool I'd be
To take the narrow road
The winding path less worn
To risk my life and all I have
And give it all
For the promise of an unseen treasure

The Way You Said It Would
by Randy Thompson

Every morning I wake up
Open my eyes and greet another day
And I can't help but wonder
What You're 'gonna' bring my way
There are times it's so easy
To follow You and feel Your loving hand
Then there's moments I cry out
'Cause I just don't understand
I don't want to be the kind
That follows You just when it's alright
'Cause I know there'll be moments
When everything seems as dark as night

CHORUS
I believe You, everything You do to me
O Lord I know it's for my good
I'm trusting everything is 'gonna' work out
The way You said it would

I Know I gave You my life Lord
And told You, You could do with it as You please
There's been many times since then
I've been driven to my knees
And it's hard to believe
That You're here in the midst of the pain I feel
But I've come to know that it's in those moments
Your love becomes so real

CHORUS

I can't say I've never been tempted
To turn and run away
But there's something inside of me
That makes me want to stay
O Lord You wouldn't let me go
You made me understand
That everything I'm looking for
Is right here in the palm
Of Your hand

Then I Met Jesus
by Randy Thompson

I tried to live my life by all the things that people told me
Could give my life meaning
For all those things I sought
Took from people the things they could offer
Never worried about giving them back
I tried anything to take the place of the one thing I lacked

CHORUS
And then I met Jesus
And He turned my life all around
He said to gain your life you must loose it
To live you must learn how to die
To follow me you must take up your cross
Yourself deny

I tried to fill my life with all the things the world had to offer
I ended up lonely with nothing at all
I tried everything I could
I tried 'till I understood
That everything I thought I wanted
Was taking me nowhere at all

CHORUS

You must depend on Me only
To get love you've got to give it away
To learn how to live you must learn how to die everyday

Thirsty
by Randy Thompson

The journey is long
At times I feel so alone
Even though I know You’re here
So I press on, hungry to hear Your voice
Whispering in my ear

But what if this is the gift
And You are the cause of my hunger
And what if You are the source
Of the thirst that draws me to You Bm Asus A

Lord I am thirsty
Come and drink of the living water
God I am thirsty
Drink deep from the fountain of life
God I’m so thirtsy
Come and drink from the well that will never run dry

Day after day the landscape seems all the same
And I loose my perspective
And somewhere along the way I become aware
Of this deepening discontent

But what if this is the gift
I am here so You’ll find me
And what if this is meant to remind me
Only You satisfy

This Holy Night
by Randy Thompson

It must have been dark
It must have been lonely
They must have been so scared
In the middle of the night
They must have wondered
If You were there

The angel's voice they heard so clearly
Must now seem so far away
How could they know, from this night forward
The world would never be the same

Chorus

How could they ever know that on this silent night
In the darkness there was born to us the brightest light
With a voice that we could hear God would speak to men
What was broken now could be made whole again
God's love shown bright this holy night

It must have been hard
There must have been moments
When they wondered why
In all the world of all the places
You would lead them here tonight

Break

But with eyes they could not see You were watching over them
With hands they could not feel You were holding them so tight
And in their lonliness a myriad of angels stood
Surrounding them in silence as they bowed in wonder at this sight

Chorus
