23rd Psalm
by Randy Thompson
adapted from Keith Green's 'The Lord is my Shepherd'

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul
And leads my path in righteousness for His name sake
Surely goodness and lovingkindness
Will follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever and ever and ever

-------

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
These words of truth become more precious to me
As I am constantly aware of what I haven't got.
How long before You will come and set this longing captive free?

And You alone can make me just lie down
In the cool of this deep green pature
Safe from dangers that are all around
And from the quiet, still cool waters I drink deep, drink deep, drink deep
drink deep, drink deep, drink deep

And You alone can restore my soul
You fill the longing in these empty places
You alone Lord can make me whole
And set my feet on the road of righteousness that leads me straight to You
Leads me straight to You

And when I find myself in the deepest valley
With deaths cold shadow hanging over me
When I can't see to find my own way out
Lord I will not fear, I know You are here, You comfort me,
You comfort me

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
He makes me to lie down in cool green pastures
Safe from dangers that are all around
And from the quiet, still cool waters I drink deep, drink deep, drink deep
drink deep, drink deep, drink deep

The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
The Lord of Heaven is my shepherd and I shall not want
The Lord of heaven is my shepherd and I am His sheep
And I am His sheep
And I am His sheep

Paradox
by Randy Thompson

It's a mystery It's a paradox
It's a vision only seen through eyes of wonder
It's a miracle unbelievable
It's a story told in whispers from the heart

How could He as a man stand on the earth
How could God come down to Earth
That as God He holds in His hands
How could it be that this God of eternity
How could God now come through birth
Now must experience birth
It's a long way from heaven to Earth

It's a dark night on a long road
It's a baby wrapped in blankets in a stable
It's the final hope of a desperate world
In the crying of this baby at His mother's breast

Who could have dreamed that the God who holds everything
Could God be held in her arms
Now could be held in her arms
Could God be held in our heart
Who'd have conceived of a God who owns everything
Choosing to conquer my heart

Who could have known on that crystal clear night
What the calm refused to betray
This baby was more than we'd ever dared dream
In flesh what words couldn't say

Peter Walked On The Water
by Randy Thompson

Did you ever hear the story
Talking all about Peter
And how he walked on the water late one night
When he saw the Lord come
Come walking on stormy waves
And when He saw the Lord he nearly died of fright

But when he knew it was Jesus
He said, Lord, bid me come to Thee
I want to walk upon the water just like You
And the Lord said come on Peter
Go ahead and take a step out of the boat
You can walk upon the water believe Me it's true

Peter walked on the water
Peter walked on the stormy sea
And he didn't let all of this world's fears hold him down
Peter didn't need that leaky boat
No, his faith kept him afloat
Peter walked on the water like walking on solid ground

Well, there's more to this story
'Cause Peter's a lot like you and me
When he kept his eyes on Jesus it was fine
But he saw the stormy waves
And the wind was oh so high
He took his eyes off of Jesus and nearly drowned
Then he cried, Lord, save me!
And Jesus came and set him back in the boat
Said, Peter, oh Peter, why did you doubt?
I'm never gonna leave you
I'll always be right by your side
So the storms of life can never pull you down

Peter walked on the water
Peter walked on the stormy sea
And he didn't let all of this world's fears hold him down
Peter didn't need that leaky boat
No, his faith kept him afloat
Peter walked on the water like walking on solid ground

Peter walked on the water
Peter walked on the stormy sea
And he didn't let all of this world's fears hold him down
Peter didn't need that leaky boat
No, his faith kept him afloat
Peter walked on the water like walking on solid ground
Peter walked on the water like walking on solid ground
Peter walked on the water like walking on solid ground

Pray
by Randy Thompson

You ask I answer
You seek and I promise you'll find
You knock and the door will be opened
All you've got to do is pray

When you feel alone I'm with you
When your afraid I will comfort your heart
When it's too dark I will light the way for you
All you've got to do is pray

For I Am the Way
The Truth and the Life
You are the branches I Am the Vine
I gave you sight when you were blind
I lifted you up when you were down

I'm the Beginning and I Am the End
I know your heart and all that's within
I loved you even when you were in sin
And no one else gave you a chance

I hold the future
And I alone hold all the power in My hands
I'm the only one who can give it to you
All you have to do is ask

And you ask I answer
You seek and I promise you'll find
You knock and the door will be opened
All you've got to do
All you've got to do
All you've got to do is pray
All you've got to do is pray
All you've got to do is pray
All you've got to do is pray

Prodigal
by Randy Thompson

I remember every bend along this road that I now travel
Not too long ago I came the other way
Full of hopes and dreams that now have all become unraveled
I have squandered them away
I left the only life I knew so far behind me
To chase a life I'd never known
I didn't care how much my father's heart was breaking
Nor could I see what I had done

I gave my hand to everything I thought would bring me pleasure
I chased it all with a wanton disregard
For the simple fact that nothing in this life lasts forever
Too late I found my fortune gone
But even then I just refused to see my failure
Too ashamed to admit what I had done
So I simply sold myself much deeper into bondage
Only to find myself alone

I finally realized how foolish I had been
I finally saw what I'd become
A man with nothing left to fill the emptiness within
Except the thought of going home

INTERLUDE

But I have no way of knowing now what will be my reception
Or if he'll even speak my name
I only know I have no right to be his son
I only hope he'll let me be his slave
Will he listen as I humbly bow before him
Will he hear the words I say
Will he show me mercy even though I don't deserve it
Or will he simply turn me away

I round the final bend and there I see my father standing
And all the shame wells up inside of me
I left believing I had no need for his love
And now that need is what consumes me
And then he runs to me and wraps his arms around me
The tears fall freely from his face
He looks into my eyes and says the words "I love you"
And I am lost in his embrace

And though I try to make confession for my sinfulness
He doesn't hear the words I say
For whereas once he thought that I was lost to him forever
He only knows now that I'm saved

Psalm 42
by Randy Thompson

As the deer craves water brooks
My heart cries for You Lord
And my heart longs for the Living God
When shall I come before Him
For my tears have been my meat both day and night

Chorus
Why my soul are you so cast down
Why are you weary within me
Hope in God for I will praise His Holy name
His face is always before me
And His presence will be my guide

Deep calls to deep at the sound of Thy waterfalls
And Thy billows and Thy waves roll over me
But the Lord commands His love to me
And His song it will be with me in the night

Chorus
Why my soul are you so cast down
Why are you weary within me
Hope in God for I will praise His Holy name
His face is always before me
And His presence will be my guide

Psalm 63
by Randy Thompson

O, God, You are my God
And I will seek You with all my heart
O, God, You are my God
I will seek You with all my Heart O, God

In a dry and weary land
My soul thirsts for You my flesh yearns for You
In the night as I lay on my bed
I remember You, meditate on You

Chorus

As You hold me in Your hands
My soul clings to You offers praise to You
In You alone I am satisfied
For my help is in You and my joy is in You

Chorus

Your lovingkindness is better than life
My lips will praise You
Your lovingkindness is better than life
So I will bless You as long as I live
With my hands lifted up in Your name
Your power and glory are all I see
In the shadow of Your wings in joy I sing

Chorus
